Annual Fund Raiser
Alexander Rescue Squad celebrates 50 years of volunteer services to Alexander County and our surrounding neighbors across North Carolina. In these tough economic times no one is immune from cutbacks or the reduction of services. Alexander Rescue Squad continues to provide the same expert level of services to our citizens of Alexander County. Providing these services has not come without careful planning and strategic financing. In 2008 we were successful in placing a full time employee in our organization to better serve you on a daily basis. While we remain a full service volunteer organization, this step was necessary as it gets harder and harder to get volunteers off work to respond to calls during the day. Alexander Rescue Squad constantly reevaluates our preparedness for all types of emergencies and disasters. We have recently added a trailer to our fleet to transport our ATV team that doubles as a mobile command post and rehab unit. The trailer is available to our county emergency service workers at structure fires or other types of emergencies when requested. We continue to provide rescue services for motor vehicle accidents, trench, structural collapse rescue, water and high angle rescue. We provide medical support as first responders and back-up service to Alexander County’s EMS system as well as providing coverage to a wide variety of sporting events.
We operate out of one station in Taylorsville and have a total of 8 apparatus, 3 boats, 3 ATV’s, ATV Transport/Mobile Command Post Trailer and a water rescue trailer. Our 40 volunteers train thousands of hours each year to be able to handle any kind of rescue situation they may encounter. In 1999 Alexander Rescue Squad became the first certified Heavy Rescue Squad in the State of North Carolina, an accomplishment our members are very proud of. This alone speaks for the dedication of our members to you, our community. For the last 50 years, Alexander Rescue Squad has been there for you.
For a number of years in the past Alexander Rescue Squad has hosted an annual portrait fund raising drive. In an effort to better serve you, we chose to conduct our fundraiser again in 2009 by mail. As in the past, you will receive a free family portrait with each donation. 100% of your donation will go to the rescue squad. We are a totally volunteer, non-profit, tax exempt corporation. By making a tax-deductible (if eligible) contribution today, we will be able to continue our efforts to provide the quality service that you have been accustomed to for the past 50 years.
We are asking for each family to help us in our lifesaving efforts. A tax-deductible contribution (if eligible) of $35.00 will help to generate necessary funds to allow us to continue to grow and improve our services to you. We feel that sending our request by mail gives you time to talk it over with other family members and budget your contribution. Any contribution you may wish to send will certainly be appreciated. Remember, even if you can't afford to help us we will still be there for you.
