Annual Fund Raiser
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, many people are reconsidering their preparedness for disaster and counting their blessings. Alexander Rescue Squad has reevaluated our preparedness for all types of disasters. Knowing our area is not exempt from major disasters like hurricanes and winter storms. We have diligently prepared for all types of emergencies in order to better serve our citizens. Some of these include motor vehicle accidents, structural collapse, trench rescue, water and high angle rescue. In addition we provide medical support as first responders and back-up service to the EMS system. Many times during the year we provide coverage to a wide variety of sporting events.
Since 1959, Alexander Rescue Squad has been a part of Alexander County. Our many services have and still are provided to you, our community at no charge. These include the many varied aspects of rescue and secondary EMS service listed above. For the last 49 years, Alexander Rescue Squad has been there for you. We currently operate out of one station in Taylorsville and have a total of 7 apparatus, 3 boats and a Swiftwater rescue trailer. Our 40 volunteers train hundreds of hours each year to be able to handle any kind of rescue situation ranging from vehicle extrication to structural collapse rescue. In 1999 Alexander Rescue Squad became the first certified Heavy Rescue Squad in the State, an accomplishment our members are very proud of. This alone speaks for the dedication of our members to you, our community. Alexander Rescue is currently staffing our base during peak hours to more efficiently respond to your needs.
For a number of years in the past Alexander Rescue Squad has hosted an annual portrait fund raising drive. In an effort to better serve you, we chose to conduct our fundraiser again in 2008 by mail. As in the past, you will receive a free family portrait with each donation. 100% of your donation will go to the rescue squad. We are a totally volunteer, non-profit, tax exempt corporation.
By making a tax-deductible contribution (if eligible) today, we will be able to continue our efforts to provide even better and more valuable rescue assistance to you, our community as we have for the past 49 years. The ever-changing world requires we maintain current levels of training and equipment to stay abreast of the varied ways accidents happen.
We are asking for each family to help us in our lifesaving efforts. A tax-deductible contribution (if eligible) of $35.00 will help to generate necessary funds to allow us to continue to grow and improve our services to you. We feel that sending our request by mail gives you time to talk it over with other family members and budget your contribution. Any contribution you may wish to send will certainly be appreciated. Remember, even if you can't afford to help us we will still be there for you.
Thank you,
Alexander Rescue Squad
